Day 297

July 27, 2018                                                                                                     Day 297

The sun was actually out this morning!  Thankfully I wasn't too tired since I didn't sleep at all last night due to being cold and having nightmares.  I woke up feeling like I had to use the restroom and could have a UTI for in my dream I had one.  It is funny how dreams can be tied to reality.  Our breakfast consisted of the same wraps which surprisingly I have not grown tired of; though, I think it helps that we rotate between them and oatmeal.  With breakfast complete and the dishes done we got everything packed up for driving.

We drove an hour west to the trailhead for Arethusa Falls and Frankenstein Cliff.  The hike was 4.2 miles and featured a beautiful waterfall.  The trail was steep and drenched from all the rain of late.  Mushrooms grew abundantly all over ranging in colors of orange, red, purple, white and black.  Tree roots covered the trail making one focus on each step; yet, the forest floor was damp in leaf litter and moist with a heavenly scent of pine and cedar drifting to ones nose.  When we arrived at the falls they were glorious and once we had our fill of pictures we headed back on the trail to the Frankenstein cliffs.  We only met two people so the trail was quite except for the birds.  The trail moved up and down crossing over multiple streams and not one section was dry.  I absolutely loved it!  Both of us were soaked in sweat for it was so humid out one could barely breath.  When we reached the overlook the trees fell away to reveal mountains as far as the eye could see.  As thunder rolled overhead and a red squirrel tried to steal our granola we could see the top of the Arethusa Falls to our right.  Once our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were gone and my knee brace was on we headed down the trial to the RV.  The majority of the trail was a stream and just as we spotted the camper it began to rain.  Wow, we were lucky!

I quickly threw off my boots and socks and jumped in the passenger seat.  We rode around (14:30) looking for camping spots as the rain ceased outside.  The first location was full; yet, thankfully, the second spot workout out perfectly (Haystack Road Dispersed, Town Mountain, New Hampshire).  Once we parked I called mom to let her know where I was.  Then I immediately jumped into a warm shower to get all the dirt off of me.  Once out of the shower I called my friend Vernon and we talked for about an hour which was nice for I really enjoy talking with him.

I wrote in my journal and then Jason and I got dinner ready together which consisted of hamburgers.  During dinner a large and beautiful dark rabbit appeared before us.  Rabbits are always so peaceful and quiet to me.  Our campsite is covered in green deciduous trees that reach the forest floor which is also green, the birds are singing all around and it is pure bliss.  We played Skip-Bo outside and when it got dark and cold out I went in to write in my journal and update my blog.

Day 296

July 26, 2018                                                                                                        Day 296

It was still raining when we woke up around 08:00 am.  Once we had breakfast we decided to drive into town o look for somewhere to dump and fill up on water.  In the town of Gorham, New Hampshire we paid $10.00 at the waste water plant to dump and fill up.  From there we drove to Walmart where we did some grocery shopping.  WE attempted to use the wifi at Walmart for a little bit with not much luck and so we drove back to our camping spot of last night.

At the camp spot we played frisbee with one we found yesterday and I wrote up my blog in a Word Document to be uploaded when I have wifi.  For dinner we had pizza, played Skip-Bo and watched a movie.
