July 20, 2018 Day
290
Around 04:30 am it was already so bright outside and
although I felt like sleeping some more Jason was up and about. All day we jokingly bickered back and forth
about each other’s weight, height and anything else we could think of. After we had devoured a breakfast wrap and
some herbal teal we headed in the direction of Acadia National Park. For some reason I had in my mind that Acadia
was this huge park in the center of Maine and not an island of sorts.
Pulling into the park about an hour later it was quite busy
which neither of us enjoy so we quickly acquired a park map and drove around on
the park loop making our way to the Blackwood’s Campground. We pulled in at 11:00; yet, they could not
tell us if we had a site until noon. It
makes no sense to me that they suggest advance reservations but when I called I
could not make a reservation for a few days to a week in advance. To kill the hour we had to wait, we drove
around looking at the scenery, picking up beer and firewood and looking at
rocks.
Thankfully we were able to get a site for a cost of $30.00
for the night. Once we parked Jason got
a fire going and I got started on dinner which entailed unthawing hamburgers,
grilling vegetables and making sweet potato fries. Through this process we drank and attempted
to play hacky sack. With a great dinner
complete we played Skip-Bo and sat by the fire making smores. The temperature got down to 50 degrees F
which was perfect sleeping weather!
