Today my plan was to go into San Antonio and see: The Alamo, The Riverwalk and the Japanese Tea Garden. After I got all my shower stuff together I made some coffee and locked up my camper. Without showering, I straightened my hair and threw on my light blue dress that is light and would be cool enough for the heat of the day.
Heading into town I began out driving at 60 mph and it wasn't until I was half way there that I realized I didn't have my camper and could actually go the 70 mph speed limit. Let me tell you I felt like a was flying! After some searching I was able to find a parking garage somewhat near the Alamo.
Walking towards the Alamo there were people everywhere! I hate doing tourist things for that precise reason. Sometimes I wish I could either go back in time or just show up when no one is around so I can truly experience the history. It was only 11:00 and the tours were already sold out which didn't affect me any since I wasn't going to do a tour to begin with. When I entered the museum portion, which was a long corridor with plaques and artifacts behind cases, it was packed to the brim. I stayed anyways and I am that weird person that reads anything and everything that has writing on it.
Leaving the museum I stopped at the Gift Shop which was like walking into a mad house. I bought my post card and ran out of there to fresh air. Back out front, the line to the church had died down some so I got in line with everyone else. Before one could enter they were taking pictures and when it came to my turn it was a tad awkward. Apparently, they thought I was with the group of people behind me and the woman told us all to line up together. I just smiled and said its just me to which I got an "oh" and my picture taken. Inside the church was interesting but for me I fell that when people are pushing around everywhere like cattle its hard to truly enjoy the history that one is seeing. I love history and seeing places where people have risked their lives and history was made. But when everywhere you look people are yelling and children are running around its difficult to truly experience it. Maybe I am just being weird.
Walking away from the Alamo I went down to the Riverwalk. It was a beautiful place and would be the perfect place to take your significant other or even a friend and stroll along stopping to get a bit to eat at one of the many cafes. I did enjoy it and thought it was quite interesting that this was right in the center of San Antonio; however, at this point I was hot and extremely hungry. Then the journey to figure out where the heck I parked my vehicle began.
Next stop was the Japanese Tea Garden which was honestly nothing at all. I saw everything there was to see in less than five minutes. Leaving there I headed back to my camper to eat since I just realized I hadn't eaten anything all day. Right before turning onto the road that would lead to the RV campground I stopped at a gas station and splurged and bought a bag of Doritos I had been craving.
At camp I threw on shorts and a tank top and proceeded to make myself a sandwich which I enjoyed with the Doritos and a La Croix water. Afterwards, I had a cigar and took my chair and sat it in the river while I wrote in my journal and read my Dummies book for my camera. Sitting there with my feet in the water I was so relaxed that I almost fell asleep. So before that would happen I went back to my camper. The rest of the night was spent talking with my friend Josh and then my dad in Florida, catching up with someone I knew back in Michigan and then once it was too dark outside I headed into the camper for the night.
In conclusion, today was perfect and I am so beyond happy. I took some great pictures of a grasshopper and just enjoyed soaking up life. I can honestly say this has been the best decision I have ever made.
