Day 142

October 28, 2017                                                                                                                    Day 142

It felt amazing to be waking up in a warm and comfortable bed and not have to fear the cold of crawling out of my sleeping bag.  Once we were both awake we headed downstairs for breakfast and true to form I had oatmeal for I just really enjoy it. With breakfast over we headed back upstairs and put on some comfy clothes and sat on the couch creating a plan for the day.  When a plan was made we both got ready and called for an Uber to take us into downtown Seattle.  We were dropped off at the sky view observatory where we got tickets to go up to the 75th floor to see a magnificent view of the Seattle area.  It was breath taking for one could see the space needle, Mount Baker, other volcanoes and the entire Seattle area. Plus it was the highest point I have ever been in a building and I loved looking down at how far up we were. We walked around taking pictures, talking and admiring the great view and at one point a woman took our picture but I have to admit I look horrible in it.

Walking out of the observatory we spent the day casually walking around downtown Seattle taking in the sights and the beautiful fall day!  We stopped at a coffee shop, I believe was called the Seattle Coffee Works, and I sat down as Sal ordered our drinks and got us a cookie that was amazing.  We then sat at a small counter overlooking the street where we drank our tasty hot coffee that contained little heart designs and I mostly listened to him talk which was really nice and comforting. From there we walked around some more hitting up a brewery where we ordered a drink and sat outside talking some more.   I have to say that I am amazed we can always find something to talk about and when we are not talking it is not an uncomfortable silence but a peaceful one.

From there we walked around the Pike Place Market looking at all the little shops and taking in some more wonderful Seattle views.  It was such a perfect and relaxing day! Next, we stopped and split a sandwich and salad to tide us over until dinner time.  We walked around some more heading in the direction of the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum.  As we neared the gardens we were also right below the Space Needle so we snapped a few pictures and then paid to get into the museum.   Inside I was blown away by how beautiful the glass artwork was; especially, the ones that were of the sea life.  Though both Sal and I noticed quite a few of the pieces seemed to just be the same thing but in a different color.

After stopping at the Bell Town Brewery for a drink we walked towards the water to get on the Ferris wheel that went out over the water and provided great views of the mountains, Seattle and a decent glimpse of the sunset.  We went around three times and then chose a place to have sushi that was on me to celebrate his birthday that was earlier in the week.  The restaurant, Japonessa, had a wait of about thirty minutes so in the meantime we walked about two doors down to get a gin and tonic at a dive/sports bar called Blarney Stone Pub.  I have to say I have become quite the fan of gin and tonics; especially, with cucumber.

Japonessa was a nice place and we sat up where one could see the chiefs prepare the sushi.  We ordered hot sake, edamame, a sampler of the salmons and then we split the tres diablos roll (spicy tuna, cucumber, topped with salmon, yellow tail, tobiko, scallion, and drizzled with strawberry habenero sauce).  The food was amazing but the company was even better.  After our dinner we took an Uber back to the hotel where we sat down by the bar near the fire and had another drink.  From there we headed back upstairs and watched Office Party which was hilarious.  Last night we didn't end up going to bed until around 01:00 so tonight we called it an early one.
