Day 276

July 6, 2018                                                                                                           Day 276

The rest area was loud and I didn't sleep so well and so when I woke up I felt like shit and wanted to do nothing all day.  We didn't quite see eye to eye on what we wanted to do for he wanted to do things where I just wanted to take a day and not do anything; however, in the end I realized he was right and that we should at least accomplish something with the day.  So we drove to Meriden where we did a few loads of laundry and I caught up in my journal while they were drying.

Afterwards we drove to Craigs Castle to see the view that I had heard so much about; yet, when we arrived the road was closed.  I called the number for the castle to inquire as to why it was closed and the woman told me it was due to the weather.  It was barely raining outside so I didn't understand why they would close it and I was also upset for I wanted to see it.   In an effort to cheer me up Jason drove us to a nearby Trader Joes' for he knows how much I love that store.  There we went grocery shopping ($120.00), walked to a wine store where he bought a case of beer, two bottles of wine and a 4-pack of dragons milk.  We then walked to the nearby REI store where I bought a pair of pants with my REI membership dividend so it went from $70.00 to $20.00.  I love REI and other stores like that but I will be honest I think it is just insane how much they ask for clothes!!  When our shopping was complete we had lunch at an Olive Garden and got on the road to a casino Jason had found on one of his apps.

The Mohegan Sun Casino had free parking/camping and was situated beautifully above the Thames River.  There was a strong breeze that made the temperature absolutely divine!  Once security came around to give us our permit we headed over to the casino.  It was my first time in a casino and I thought it was absolutely beautiful inside being decorated in the themes of Earth, Wind and Sky.  There was birch bark covering the walls of the entire entrance way and artwork everywhere.  After moseying around we made our way to the rooftop to catch the end of an outdoor concert paying tribute to Kenny Chesney.  There they had fires, beer and comfortable chairs so we hung out until it ended and then made our way back to the camper for the evening.
