Day 279

July 9, 2018                                                                                                          Day 279

Another beautiful morning!  How have we gotten so luck with the weather? It is not too hot yet the sun is out broadcasting a wonderful day ahead.  Once we had a delicious shake we left the Mohegan Sun Casino and headed in the direction of Newport, Rhode Island about two hours away.  The drive was pleasant and we had planned earlier to head to Brenton State Park where it was reported to have free parking.  And I am all about that free parking!  Thankfully, it did have free parking and boy was it beautiful!  Right on the ocean with a strong wind that actually made it cold enough to want a sweater!  We parked and walked across the road to a bench over looking the ocean to eat chips, hummus and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

We then drove through Ocean drive to see the mansions and after finding no parking pulled over on the side of the road and got the bikes out.  We then biked over to the south entrance of the Cliff Walk and began walking.  It was a beautiful 13 mile round trip practically for we walked 6.7 miles on the coastline seeing some mansions from their backyards and then the rest on the road back to the our bikes.  We talked and laughed in good spirits the entire time.

When we made it back to the RV we changed and waited for a ride to take us to Thames Street near downtown.  There we walked around going into shops to look at things and stopped for a beer.  We then searched for place to eat since all the places I had originally planned for us to eat at were closed on Mondays.  I was not expecting any place to be closed on a Monday so I never bothered to look at what days they were open or closed.  We settled for dinner at The Landing where I dropped $100.00 on our meal but did not enjoy it for the tuna was too cooked and the drinks barely had any alcohol.  Now I love food and don't mind dropping some cash on a good meal, especially, since I do not go out to eat often but I truly hate just wasting money of food that was barely mediocre.

Back at the RV we caught the sunset over the ocean while sitting on a bench huddled in long pants and sweatshirt.  It was absolutely perfect! We then camped out at a parking area in Wareham, Massachusetts for the night.
